ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS AND ABOUT THE AUTHOR

 CHAPTER 1:
SHIVEN BEGINS THE ADVENTURE

‘It is no use having a secret group “Eager Eight” if we have nothing to do.’ said Aryan, talking to his friend, Advik. ‘Let’s have a meeting at the old shed, near the farmhouse.’ ‘It’s good that the farmhouse is near everyone’s house. The meeting is at twenty past five in the evening today.’ said Aryan. ‘I will tell Simar, Vibhor and Aqib. You tell Parineeta, Shiven and Raghav’ told Aryan. ‘Okay!’ said Advik.Aryan went to tell everyone after lunch while; Advik went to tell them straightaway. At four o’ clock

Advik and Aryan went to the shed, opened and cleaned it, substituted a big box for the table and put some stools for everyone to sit. Exactly at twenty past five Aqib came. He sat on the stool near the door. Next came Simar. She sat on the stool, which was the nearest to the table and opened a bag, having some biscuits and juice. Raghav and Vibhor came together. Then came Parineeta who was panting. Everyone asked her why was she panting. She answered, ‘my mother told to get some fruits from the market. I requested my sister to go in my place. She did not agree and therefore I had to give the basket to her and run away. Shestarted chasing me but I
quickly ran and came here.’ At last came Shiven at quarter to six. Aryan immediately shut the door so that no one else sneaks in to the meeting. Everyoneasked why was Shivenso late. He answered, ‘I was coming to the shed when I saw a man asking someone about a dragon. I asked him why he was asking for it. He told that there are dragons in this town. He wanted to see the dragons and learn about them.’ Everyone stared at him and said, ‘Are you speaking the truth?’ Shiven answered, ‘I am speaking the truth!’‘It appears that we have an adventure coming up’. Let’s find where are the dragons.’ said Aryan. Advik and I will go towards the south, Simar and Parineeta
will go towards the north, Vibhor and Raghav will go towards the east and Shiven and Aqib will go towards the west. ‘But before searching where are the dragons, let’s eat something.’ said Simar. After eating, Aryan said, ‘Tomorrow is Sunday so we can search for the dragon. If someone finds where are the dragons, call Advik. He will tell others. So this meeting is finished.’

 CHAPTER 2:
THE CLUEHUNT

The next morning, everyone ate their breakfast so early that the time when the breakfast finished was quarter to nine! This happened to be their breakfast starting time.Aryan and Advik went to the swimming pool first. Both had bought their swimming costumes. They went into the pool. Aryan went to practice underwater and saw a piece of paper floating inside the water. Aryan told Advik about that paper. Advik swam towards the paper andcaught it. Theywent out of the pool and read the paper. It was a

quarter torn and written ‘House Number 321 Secto’. Aryan said, ‘It must be the address of that house. Let’s see what the others have found.’ Meanwhile Simar and Parineeta found a piece of torn paper beside a dustbin and in that was written ‘r 32-C ’. Simar said, ‘It is a clue for us. Let’s see what the others have found.’ Meanwhile, Vibhor and Raghav found a piece of paper near the water tank of another neighborhood and in that was written ‘Gurg’ and the other portion was torn. Vibhor said ‘It is some clue that we have found. Let’s keep it in our pocket.’ Meanwhile, Shiven and Aqib had not found anything. Everyone

reached that place where Shiven and Aqib were searching because the shed was in that direction. Shiven and Aqib found a piece of paper getting inside the shed. They entered and discussed what they had found. ‘We have found a torn piece of paper’, Aryan and Advik said together. ‘We have also found a torn paper’, said Simar, Parineeta, Vibhor and Raghav together. ‘Let’s paste the pieces with cello tape and find out what is written’, said Aqib. They pasted it and it was written:

HOUSE NO 321
SECTOR 32C
Gurgaon

‘Let’s go and check it out because this appears to be the address where the dragon may be hidden’, said Aryan. The Eager Eight immediately rushed out of the shed and sat on their bicycles and rushed towards the house.

 CHAPTER 3:
THE REAL MYSTERY

They went through the shortest way on the streets of Sector 32 A and B. They reached the house in 30 minutes. The house was hidden behind many trees. When they reached the house everyone ran to the front door. Aryan and Advik knocked the door. An old man opened the door. He screamed, ‘ what do you want?’ ‘ We want to learn about dragons. Someone told us that dragons live here’, Aryan and Advik said together. This time the old man (losing his anger) said in a soft voice ‘Enter’. When they entered, the house
looked too small for a dragon to live inside but it was about 1000 feet tall house! It looked was it reconstructed! The children saw 10 dragons and 1 dragon egg. The dragon with an orange tail cover was eating meat. The one with a black bandana was sleeping in one giant carpet, which was shaped like a dragon. The one with a purple shirt was blowing bubbles with a chewing gum in an old rug. All the dragons were very strange. ‘Don’t you have any more dragons?’ asked Advik eating meat with a dragon.  The old man replied, ‘it’s a sad story: Yesterday, I made all my dragons sleep and went to my bed upstairs. It took time for me to reach there. When I
had just finished climbing the stairs, a voice came ‘YAU!’ and it was my dragon shouting voice. Then I slid down the railing of the stairs to reach faster. When I reached, all were sleeping but my blue dragon was MISSING.’ ‘Don’t worry, we will find it’ said Aryan, ‘But, what is it’s color?’ ‘It is blue in color’ said the old man. The children rushed back to the shed. ‘We must find the dragon’, said Aryan. They saw the shed clock. It was striking eight!

 CHAPTER 4:
A STROKE OF LUCK

The next morning, everyone entered the shed at quarter past ten. ‘Sorry, today I am going to the mall with my parents.’ said Aryan. ‘But keep searching for the man. I will also try afterwards.’ At the DT mall, Aryan went past a meat shop. He saw a man buying 3 and half kilograms of meat. His family and the man exited the mall at the same time. Aryan said ‘I want to play with Advik at his house. Can I go? I will come home carefully’ to is parents. They said ‘You can go’. Aryan said ‘Thank you’ to them and ran towards the man. But he stopped at a distance from him so that so that he does not suspect that someone is following him. He followed him for a long time. Then, he stopped and took out his notepad and noted: Colony: Palam Vihar. Then he started following him again. Then, the man went inside one house. Aryan noted first: House no. 345. He waited there for sometime. Then afterwards, from that house a voice came ‘YAU!’ Then Aryan understood that this is the place where the dragon is. He ran to others house and told them to come to the shed. In the shed, Aryan told everyone what happened. He said ‘Tomorrow everyone report here at quarter to
two. The new password is ‘Dragonland’. After the meeting was over, Aryan thought for a plan. The next afternoon Aryan entered the shed and waited for others to come. The first knock was at one ‘o’ clock. Aryan said ‘Password’. Then someone said, ‘Dragonland,’ and in came Rahul. He is the naughtiest boy in the class and when Simar offered him to join, he disagreed. Then Aryan chased him away. Then many people said ‘Dragonland’ Aryan opened the door and everyone entered inside. Aryan told them a plan. Advik and I will keep surveillance on the dragon room. Raghav and Vibhor, come with meat. Both bring three packets each. Shiven will help them hold the packets. Aqib you bring sleeping pills to give the man. Parineeta and Simar will coordinate the rescue mission. If there is a problem, tell
Advik or me. Tomorrow, come to the shed with your torches at quarter to seven in the evening.

CHAPTER 5:
THE LAST STEP

The next day, when everyone had reached the shed, Aryan asked Aqib, ‘Aqib have you bought the sleeping pills?’ ‘Yes, I have bought them’, answered Aqib. ‘Vibhor and Raghav have you bought the meat?’ ‘Yes we have bought’, answered Raghav and Vibhor. ‘Simar, have you bought the climbing rope and a big soft mattress? ‘Yes, I have bought it. Everything is in this bag’,answered Simar. ‘So then, let us go!’ said Advik. When they reached the house, Aryan asked for the big bag from Simar and the

sleeping pills from Aqib. Then Advik and he laid the mattress on the road and threw the rope’s carabineer to the balcony. Aryan carefully climbed the rope. When he reached the balcony, he quickly brought some water from the kitchen and mixed sleeping pills in it. Then he heard some footsteps. He left the glass on the bedside table and then ran to the balcony and jumped on the mattress. Then Aryan again climbed the rope and when he saw the man drinking that glass, he knew that the man would be asleep within seconds, as he had mixed all the pills in the glass! Then he jumped back and said, ‘He is fast asleep. Let us go!’ Everyone entered the house and
Aryan and Advik started guarding the room in which the dragon was hidden. Shiven, Vibhor and Raghav took the meat in their hands. Then suddenly, Aryan spoke in the Walkie-Talkie with Simar. He said, ‘Somebody is coming’. Simar told others. They took the meat and hid. Aryan and Advik hid under the black couch. Parineeta and Simar hid between a Television table and the blackcouch. Aqib hid behind a chair. Shiven was under that chair behind which Aqib was hiding. Vibhor and Raghav hid behind the black couch. Aryan and Advik became very uncomfortable. They waited for the man to go. The man threw two pieces of paper and went away.
Aryan said to everyone, ‘I have found a piece of paper.’ ‘So have I’, said Aqib. ‘Let’s read what is written.’

NEXT THING TO STEAL: THE ORANGE DRAGON

Then Aryan said ‘Advik go to the police and show them this paper. Bring them to the old man’s place. We will take the dragon there.’ Advik answered ‘Alright I will go to the nearest police station.’ and he went to the police station. They started again and the dragon followed them. Aryan, Simar, Parineeta and Aqib guided the three. They soon reached the
house and rang the doorbell. The old man said ‘What do youwant at this time of a day!’ ‘We have brought your dragon’, said Simar. Then, Shiven, Raghav and Vibhor threw the packets towards the old man. Then the dragon jumped to the old man and forgot about the meat. The old man said ‘Thank you!’ to the Eager Eight. Then Advik arrived with the police. ‘So what was stolen?’ asked one policeman. ‘We have brought it back’, said Aryan at once. ‘So can you take me to that place?’ asked another policeman. ‘Yes we can’, said Advik ‘But you would get only one thief and won’t have difficulty in catching him.’ ‘Why?’ asked the same police man. ‘Because he is
fast asleep!’ said Aryan. They led them to the place. One policeman asked, ‘Do you have a secret group?’ ‘Yes we have. It’s name is Eager Eight’ said Aryan. The next day when Aryan came home from school, he read the newspaper as he normally does. He read the first headline and it was:

ONE SMART THIEF ARRESTED, ONE MORE TO GO

Then he started finding the page number in which was the full article. When he found it, he started reading it.

There was an unknown robbery of a dragon. The dragon thief was none other than Rajesh Kumar. His partner escaped before the police could arrest him. Rajesh Kumar was fast asleep so it was easy to arrest him. A children’s group called ‘Eager Eight’ returned the dragon to the owner and did 90% of the work in arresting Rajesh Kumar.

Aryan rushed to the telephone and called an urgent meeting. Everyone entered and Aryan asked them ‘Did you read the newspaper?’ Everyone said ‘No, we have not.’ Aryan turned Page number 10 and gave them. They read and were shocked. Aryan said ‘We have completed one mission! Yippee! Yahoo!’ and started jumping and dancing.
